Feb. 16, 2024 (AFP) -- Bitcoin is forecast to keep rising after hitting fresh two-year highs above $50,000.
The world's biggest cryptocurrency reached $52,749 on Thursday, a high since December 2021. Its market capitalization also went back above $1 trillion this week, cryptocurrency data platform CoinGecko reports.
Bitcoin was trading at $51,984.40 at 12:24 EST Friday.
Bitcoin's price has soared more than 20 percent this month and more than tripled since January last year.
While it has yet to return to near its historic record of November 2021, at nearly $69,000, the cryptocurrency has largely recovered since a price collapse at the end of 2022.
